Gregynog’s woodland Trim Trail or ‘Green Gym’ is located in beautiful woodland opposite the hall and a short walk from the main car park. It provides a challenging exercise circuit that offers physical activity for the whole community and is free to use. A trim trail can strengthen the upper and lower body and improve coordination, whilst encouraging use and access to the wider estate woodlands. Although focused on adult fitness; children can use the trail with adult supervision.
Ten pieces of equipment create a circuit through the woodlands; which can be extended for runners by joining one of the four waymarked walks. The ‘Wern Walk’ which passes by the ‘Green Gym’ is 5.6km in length. A leaflet is available detailing the routes and equipment from reception.
The equipment includes ladder walks, parallel bars, hurdles and straddle jumps with areas for press ups and chin ups. Positioned at each exercise station are signs depicting the exercise to be undertaken, with the suggested number of repetitions. The trail is graded and colour coded for beginners, intermediate and expert.
Follow the route jogging between stations. If unfit, avoid undue strain and build up your fitness levels gradually. Elite and advanced users should use the equipment to match their own fitness levels. If unsure; please consult your doctor before you embark on a new physical programme or fitness activity.
Please remember that this is a natural environment and the terrain is forbidding underfoot with uneven surfaces and exposed tree routes. Gregynog is not liable or any injury or accident.
All equipment conforms to EN 16630 for permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment and is regularly inspected.
An estate admission fee, administered via a car parking change applies of £2.50 per vehicle. Otherwise, why not join our annual membership scheme at £15 per person. Opening hours are 8am to 8pm or dawn to dusk in the winter. Refreshments are available from the Courtyard Café and toilets are located in the ‘Old Gardener’s Hut’
